Did you see the Oscars?

I saw one of them....

ILM won the Oscar for Visual Effects for their work on Pirates 2 this past weekend, and we had a little celebration at work when everyone got back from LA.

Here's me with John Knoll, the visual effects supervisor.

And here's me with Hal Hickel, the animation director.

Everyone at ILM was really excited. Maybe Pirates 3 will win next year, and I'll be able to say I worked on an Academy Award winning film.

Happy Valentine's Day!

As always, things have been busy here. On top of that, my video card died, so I can't do much online outside of work. I've been finishing up on Pirates 3 and starting on a new movie. Here's an appropriate clue what it is:

Vertigo

No, not U2 and their iPod theme song. Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo. I hadn't seen it in a long time, but watching it now is so much creepier because I recognize all the places.

Here's Jimmy Stewart driving by my apartment. The only difference between the film and today is the old cars.

The building Madeleine lived in is only 2 blocks from me.

And then there's the scene in the forest...

which is a little less creepy today.

"...Here I was born..."

and here I totally got wasted.

Seriously though, it's a great movie. Go rent it some time.

New Years Eve in San Fran

I ended up spending New Years with some friends in the east bay, but before heading over the bridge, I saw this. I can see why people don't have cars here, parking is outrageous.

ILM Christmas party!

Last week was ILM's annual Christmas party. It was amazing! They rented out an old-style theater building and decorated each of the 4 floors differently. There was food and open bars on each floor.

Here's the buffet on the jazz floor.

The main floor had casino games, color changing inflated light-things, and a Neil Diamond tribute band!!! Holy Crap, it was COOL!

Ericks, Chansoo and I had lots of drinks, lots of fun, and talked to some old friends who also ended up at ILM. Great party!

Busy in December

Well, things have been really busy with work and I haven't had time to post that much. I have been doing my best to get out in the little time I have, though.

Here's the Christmas tree at the Fisherman's Wharf.

...and here's a seal at the Aquarium.
