Happy Holidays!

I'm off to visit family for the week. I hope you all have a great holiday!

ILM Christmas party!

Last week was ILM's annual Christmas party. It was amazing! They rented out an old-style theater building and decorated each of the 4 floors differently. There was food and open bars on each floor.

Here's the buffet on the jazz floor.

The main floor had casino games, color changing inflated light-things, and a Neil Diamond tribute band!!! Holy Crap, it was COOL!

Ericks, Chansoo and I had lots of drinks, lots of fun, and talked to some old friends who also ended up at ILM. Great party!

Busy in December

Well, things have been really busy with work and I haven't had time to post that much. I have been doing my best to get out in the little time I have, though.

Here's the Christmas tree at the Fisherman's Wharf.

...and here's a seal at the Aquarium.

MacGyver would be proud

Here's the situation: You're in a hotel room with a dead wall clock. You need an AA battery to fix it, but you don't have one. All you have is an AAA, but that won't fit! No tools or supplies, either.

Cue the tense piano music. How am I going to get this to work? What would MacGyver do to get out of this one?

I find a discarded metal screw in the back of the cupboard above the stove. It's corroded, but is it conductive enough to bridge the gap between the too-small AAA battery and the AA socket's contact?!

Yes! It works! Thanks Mac!

Party at ILM!

I haven't had any time to add to my blog in the last week. Let's just say I'm really busy at work.

There was a big party here at ILM last Friday, and pictures from it ended up on the internet. You can see them here:

It was a bit crazy and very nerdy, so I wasn't there too long. I did have a Darth Vader cupcake before having to get back to work, though.

I'll try to upload more pictures very soon, but it doesn't help that I'm already working 6 day weeks.

Fusion Fuel - Lock and load, baby!

Well, almost.

I was walking down the street near the wharf and I saw this promotional truck. It instantly reminded me of Marcus' book Oblivion Society, so I just HAD to take a picture. I was so ready to jump in the passenger door if I heard an air raid siren go off!

If you haven't read the book, I'd definitely recommend it. You can read the first 100 pages here.

Some familiar faces

I had lunch with some other former Rhythm & Hues animators today. Ericks and Chansoo met me at Pluto's in the Marina district for the biggest salads I'd ever seen. It was nice to see some familiar faces.

Afterwards, I walked down to the Fisherman's Wharf and saw all the crazy tourist attractions. Here's Alcatraz island...

At Pier 39 I saw this lady with her dog... that dog hates that sweater so much. But I thought it was funny.
